Tamilselvi is from a washer men community. She lost her father at an early age. Her mother somehow managed to get her married. Life became more miserable after that. Many a times she will not have a single meal during the day.

Her husband deserted her after she gave birth to a female child. Now she had to support not only her daughter but her aged mother. Her condition worsened day by day that often drove her to commit suicide.

She became a member of Mahasemam Trust. She applied for a loan amount of Rs.5000. She bought an iron box and some accessories to start her laundry. Today she has successfully paid off her loan. She earns Rs.200 per day.
